Johnny Romsaas beat Michel Blinker by PTS in round 6 of 6

  • Date: 1964-12-11
  • Location: Nidarohallen, Trondheim, Norway
  • It was a rematch when Norwegian middleweight Johnny Romsaas took on Michel Blinker of Suriname/Netherlands. The tall Blinker was making his fourt appearce in a Norwegian ring. From the first bell it was clear that the two boxers were intent on making a different fight than their Oslo encounter in June. Now they traded punches at half distance, nothing of the clinching and head-butting, which had marred their first fight. Romsaas' punching was sharp. Blinker fell out of the ring in the first round, and twice in the second. It looked very dramatic, but Blinker came back with crisp counter attacks. In round four and five he lured Romsaas into infighting and scored often with hooks. Romsaas went back to fighting at half distance in the last round, and won clearly with more sharp lefts and rights, which brought Blinker on the verge of knockdown.
