Harris was staggered in the first round with a right cross, but came back to win the 2nd round. In the 3rd round, a right hook floored Harris for a nine-count. Harris was dropped for a second time for a four-count in the 4th round, by a left hook to the head. Harris came back to win the fifth with solid blows to the head, with Walker winning the sixth and seventh with more solid blows. Harris won the eighth by a shade, and appeared to be holding his own in the 9th round, when a beautiful left hook to the top of the head sent Harris down for a third time. Harris dropped like a log, and was promptly counted out. He was subsequently carried to his corner and revived several minutes later.
