"Argentina's Jorge Ahumada, 177 1/2, won a unanimous 10-round decision over Kirkland 'Baby Boy' Rolle, 175 1/2, of Nassau, The Bahamas, at MSG's Felt Forum Monday night. Ahumada kept up a steady body attack in winning handily. He had Rolle in trouble in the 4th round, when a right to the head drove Rolle into the ropes. Ahumada made no attempt to follow up his advantage and seemed content to go the full 10 rounds. Rolle, fighting in New York for the first time in a career that started in 1960, never fired more than two punches at a time. He landed a few hard rights to the jaw in the last two rounds." -Associated Press
- Ahumada was penalized in the 5th round for low blows. As was the rule in NY at the time, the round was taken from him and given to the opponent.
