Jorge Delgado 150 lbs lost to Manuel Guzman 153 lbs by UD in round 6 of 6

In what turned out to be a spectacular bout between two local fighters with losing records, promoter Marshall Kauffman gave the crowd packed into the Allentown Days Inn Conference Center an unexpected treat in the preliminary bout to the main event between Rob Calloway and Juan Carlos Robles. To this point, the seven-bout card had appeared uneventful.

Delgado flashed a good jab throughout the bout that seemed to frustrate the slightly shorter Guzman, who spent most of the bout working the inside close with power shots. Midway through an even bout, Delgado opened a cut on the corner of Guzman's right eye. Guzman still looked good to continue, so the referee let the fight go, as the crowd came to life and cheered the back-and-forth, non-stop, toe-to-toe action.

Although Guzman's eye cut was bleeding heavily, Delgado appeared to be fading, and by the midway point of the sixth round, Delgado had almost run out of gas. Guzman refused to give up and continued to apply counter pressure. Then, with less than ten seconds left, Guzman landed a combination of punches that decked the tired Delgado, bringing the cheering crowd to its feet for a standing ovation at the end.
