"Jose (Toluco) Lopez of Mexico stands a good chance today of meeting Davey Moore for the featherweight championship of the world. Lopez pounded out a 10 round decision over Tony Herrera of Los Angeles last night at Oakland Auditorium to put himself in line for a title go. Experience told last night as Lopez came on in the middle and final rounds to wear down a game, but tiring Herrera. Herrera started fast against Lopez. A good left jab and solid right shook Lopez in the first two rounds. However, Lopez gained strength after the 5th opened and carried the fight to Herrera from then on. From the 7th round Lopez centered his attack on Herrera's body. These tactics had Herrera weary, but he managed to gather himself for a rally in the 10th which fell short." -Oakland Tribune
