"Spain's Jose Legra secured his position as the top challenger to Flash Elorde's world junior lightweight title Friday night by outpointing Ghana's Love Allotey in a controversial 12 round fight. Legra was awarded the decision, but the Spaniard was almost knocked unconscious in the 8th round by an Allotey punch which Legra said was illegal. Legra and Allotey were in a clinch in the 8th. The referee told them to break, and as Legra disentangled himself from Allotey, the Ghanaian scored a solid smash to Legra's chin. The crowd of 14,000 at the Sports Palace here jeered the referee when he began to count time on Legra. But the referee then warned Allotey for throwing an illegal punch and the fight went on. Legra the n resumed dancing around his opponent. His quick movement during the fight gave him the decision over the occasionally solid punching of Allotey." -United Press International
