"Jose Medel scored a TKO in 1:54 of the 6th round over Rudy Corona in the bantamweight feature Tuesday night at the Sports Arena. Medel met a tartar in Corona and it was a dead even fight when Medel caught Corona with a hard right above the left eye midway through the 6th round. Blood spurted all over the place and Dr. Jack Useem was called to the ring by referee George Latka. He ordered the bout stopped. Neither fighter was in real danger, but Corona shook up Medel several times with rights flush on the jaw. In the 4th Corona's knees buckled when Medel landed a right uppercut." -The L.A. Times
