Joseph Beecken won the bronze medal in boxing at the 1924 Summer Olympics in the middleweight category, losing against John Elliott in the semi-final. In february 1948 Beecken died in a car accident. Fellow boxing offical Joseph Delahaye was a passenger in the same car and died too.
