- Holland cut over the right eye in round 6 as a result of an accidental clash of heads.
- A straight right hand to the jaw stunned Taylor in round 7. Sensing that his opponent was hurt, Holland unleashed a barrage of punches that had Taylor out on his feet. Taylor grabbed hold of Holland's legs and both fighters fell to the canvas. The referee ruled that there was no knockdown, but when the fight resumed, the subsequent barrage of unanswered punches from Holland convinced the referee to stop the fight.
- Taylor was ahead on the scorecards at the time of the stoppage.
