Julio Cesar Chavez Jr 150 lbs beat Ray Sanchez 149 lbs by KO at 1:33 in round 6 of 10

Bout Summary

Undefeated light middleweight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (34-0-1, 27 KOs) fought impressively, stopping Ray Sanchez (20-2) in the sixth round at the Tinsley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Chavez, 21, the son of Julio Cesar Chavez, came right at Sanchez from the opening round, electing to fight him in a brawling fashion and disregarding any thought of defense. Chavez's body shots clearly bothered Sanchez, who finally dropped to the canvas under a barrage of punches in the sixth round.

The fight was stopped at 1:33 of the 6th round. Chavez, as in his other bouts in his short professional career, took a lot of head shots from Sanchez in the process of stopping him. Both fighters tended to load up with their shots as they tried to take each other out in the early rounds. Chavez nonetheless did not seem to be hurt at any moment during the bout.

In the third round, Sanchez was bleeding from the nose from having taken one of Chavez's big hooks. In the sixth round, Chavez landed a perfect right hand that stunned Sanchez. Not to waste the opportunity, Chavez unloaded with a flurry of shots, sending Sanchez to his knees, badly hurt.
