Junior Robles, a creator and coach of champion boxers, died in the 1980 Warsaw Plane Crash of U.S. amateur boxers, coaches and officials. Robles coached several top-ten ranked amateur boxers, locally in San Diego County and also on the All-Navy and All-Marines boxing teams. He was also an instructor at Chula Vista (California) Southwestern Community College, where he taught boxing and physical education.

Robles was the founder of the Community Youth Athletic Association in National City, Ca. He started an academic of amateur boxing there and taught youths and young adults about responsibility and good choices for life. He directed several recreational events for the community. Robles was known for coaching and developing numerous of United States' amateur boxers for international competition. He, Joe Clough, Sarge Johnson, and Archie Moore, were the most requested foreign-exchanged boxing coaches at the time of his death. He was 41-years old.

In February of 2008, a street in National City was named in honor of Robles. The street name is "Junior Robles Road." A street was also name in honor of Byron Lindsey, one of Robles's top proteges, who also died in the Poland plane crash.
