Karl Furcht beat Tore Magnussen by TKO in round 6 of 8

  • Date: 1967-06-26
  • Location: Jordal Amfi Ice Stadium, Oslo, Norway
  • As usual in the summer season, Norwegian proboxing moved to the open air arena Jordal Amfi on the East side of Oslo. 4000 attended this warm evening to see Norwegian light welter hope Tore Magnussen (10-1-0) fight German veteran Karl Furcht (19-19-11). The German tried to catch Magnussen at close range with punches from all angles. Magnussen kept Furcht away for 4 rounds with jabs and rights from a classic upright position, building up a strong points lead. It was so far an exciting fight between different styles. In the 5th Magnussen then made the serious mistake of trying to beat his opponent at the opponent's own game. He forgot his style and started a brawl with the German who was more than happy to belt it out this way. The crowd loved it, until a well timed left hook to the chin from Furcht in the 6th dropped Magnussen for the full count.

Recently retired veteran middleweight Peter Mueller was in Furcht's corner.
