Brook, now 35-0, retained his IBF World Welterweight title and remained in the hunt for a shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr.. by defeating British Commonwealth champion Gavin. Southpaw Gavin, a former world amateur champion, took too many shots on the ropes before the stoppage. Gavin was out along the ropes.
