Kelvin Lampkin, 135, Los Angeles, may have ended the career of Arturo Frias, 135, Montebello, by stopping the former WBA lightweight champion in 2:29 of the ninth in a scheduled 10. Frias never fully recovered after being floored in the first. He was also punched-pushed to the canvas in the third. Frias, 28-4, had not won a round and was hurt again when referee Lou Moret stopped the fight.
