Ken Buchanan beat Rene Roque by PTS in round 10 of 10

  • Date: 1967-07-26
  • Location: Afan Lido Sports Centre, Aberavon, Wales, United Kingdom
  • Referee: 49.25-48.75

"Ken Buchanan, Edinburgh, Scottish lightweight champion, enhanced his reputation with a good points win over the French lightweight champion, Rene Roque over the 10-round route. In retaining his 100% record with 21 wins, the young Scot put himself in the ranks of challengers for the European lightweight title. Roque, himself, is one of those nominated for the championship. Buchanan boxed brilliantly to overcome Roque's attacks, always keeping a cool head. He tiptoed around the ring always in position to score with both hands to his shorter opponent's head. The Frenchman ended the contest with his face swollen and an almost closed left eye, whilst Buchanan left the ring, unmarked." -Ring Magazine, November 1967 issue
