"Ex-champion Paddy DeMarco used a headlong attack to the body to upset southpaw Kenny Lane of Muskegon, Mich., before 1,700 in their television 10 rounder at St. Nicholas Arena. Kenny lacked the experience, strength and punch to beat tough Paddy, although one of the judges had him ahead. It was a dull bout with no knockdowns. Lane's nose began bleeding in the 5th round, and DeMarco suffered a gash on his swollen left cheek in the 7th. Paddy was warned seven times for various infractions of the rules." -United Press
- Unofficial UP scorecard - 6-4 DeMarco

- "I'm shootin' straight for the lightweight championship again." -Paddy DeMarco
- "Kenny didn't do some of the things we told him. He didn't use his left uppercut enough to straighten Paddy up. Of course, DeMarco is a very unorthodox guy to fight - buttin' and bullin' and wrestlin' all the time." -Pete Petrosky, Lane's manager
