Kid Chocolate vs. Lew Feldman (1st meeting)
Kid Chocolate 131 lbs beat Lew Feldman 132 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10
- Date: 1931-11-02
- Location: St. Nicholas Arena, New York, New York, USA
- Referee: Ed Smith
"The Kid Chocolate - Lew Feldman bout at the St. Nicholas Arena Monday night proved to be a highly satisfactory affair for all concerned. Though there was no doubt as to Chocolate deserving the verdict, it was an interesting contest throughout. The Kid took all except two rounds, but he had to step his prettiest. Chocolate is still a mark for left hooks to the body. It doesn't seem the Kid will ever learn how to get away from that punch. Feldman hit him with dozens of lefts around the beltline, but Lew was stepping so fast that he could not get much behind the punch. After Chocolate had taken the first three frames Feldman set the customers wild by belting the Kid around in scandalous fashion in the 4th. Chocolate resumed control in the 5th. In the 7th, which was the Cuban's best round, a bad cut was opened on Feldman's nose, and he also lost blood from an old gash over the right eye, which had begun to open in the 3rd. In spite of the injuries, the Brooklyn boy made it interesting right down to the final bell." -The Altoona Mirror
- Chocolate weighed 130 1/2 for this bout and Feldman was instructed to come in at 132. This was so that Chocolate's jr. lightweight title was not at stake for this non-title 10-rounder.
- Chocolate was already signed to fight Tony Canzoneri for the lightweight title in Madison Square Garden 18 days hence from this bout on November 20th.
