Kid Fredericks (Charles 'George' Johnson) was from Buffalo, NY. After a few pro bouts in 1899, he traveled to the western United States, where he had several fights, including one bout with Stanley Ketchel. He often came back to Buffalo for some bouts and to visit his mother. He enjoyed Montana. After his ring career, he became a rancher near Glacier National Park.

Buffalo Courier (12/19/1918):

Kid Fredericks who will be remembered by the fans of some fifteen years ago as the Buffalo lad who came out of the West With a great reputation for knockouts, but who disappeared from the ring suddenly after a bout with Stanley Ketchel, is in town for a few days, visiting his mother at No. 338 Breckenridge Street. George Johnson is the kid's right name and he is now a prosperous and well-to-do ranchowner.
He has fifty-eight acres near the Glacier National Park, and besides producing much material, caters to thousands of tourists every year. It is fourteen years since Johnson, or Fredericks, was last in Buffalo. He is a brother to Chick Johnson.

Much of the linked career record comes from the 1905 T. S. ANDREWS Record Book.
