"Cuban Kid Gavilan, world welterweight champion, working earnestly but not under full steam, scored a unanimous 10 round decision last night over busy and rugged Ramon Fuentes of Los Angeles. Gavilan's title was not at stake in the bout, the first one ever televised nationally from Wisconsin. Fuentes said in his dressing room after the fight that he had been bothered by the heat inside the Milwaukee Arena. A slim crowd favored the Californian throughout, resulting in more boos than cheers during the bout." -Associated Press
