Klaus Jacoby beat Rolf Kersten by TKO in round 3 of 8

  • German lightweight Klaus Jacoby stopped Rolf Kestern in the 3rd round. Jacoby (60,8 kg), a southpaw, took it easy in the 1st. In the interval before the 2nd, Kestern (59,7 kg) complained about pains in the leg but came out to fight. A left to the jaw dropped Kestern for an 8 count. He fought back and drew applause. In the 3rd Jacoby dropped him again and the fight was stopped.

    The fight took place in the city of Düren. 1,300 attended.

    Jacoby fought until 1981, retiring at the age of 40 with a 19-41-8 record. He held the German lightweight title 1968-1976.

    Kestern went on until 1980, leaving behind a record of 13-33-2. He won the German lightweight title in 1976, beating the same Jacoby, their 8th meeting.
