World Boxing Organization World Cruiserweight Championship

  • This bout marked Steve Cunningham's return to the cruiserweight division where he was world champion before he moved up to heavyweight.
  • First televised bout of Al Haymon's Premier Boxing champions on NBC Television at Barclay's Center, the only world title bout of the night.
  • Strong showing of cheering pro-Glowacki Polish fans in the crowd at Barclays Center, who celebrated after his title win and then departed.
  • Cunningham down twice in round two, again in rounds ten and 12, costing him seven points on the scorecards, four rounds and the win.
  • Glowacki landed crisp jabs and power shots to the head. Cunningham, 39, took them well. Instead of waging a technical counter punch war as he did with Antonio Tarver, Cunningham looked for the big shot, but never found it, as he did not have that kind of power. Glowacki countered accurately and successfully in many rounds. The rounds without the knockdowns were close, but there was enough activity in some of them for Glowacki to win them. Scoring appeared neutral and fair. Without the knockdowns, the bout would have been much closer. Cunningham hoped to take Glowacki out early, then tried to take him out late. A technical points bout would have been a better plan for Cunningham, as Glowacki was fighting a 'land the power shot' style fight. Cunningham was four points down after round two, and could not recover the difference on the scorecards. Ref Mercante gave both men a few warnings. Both fighters emerged the bout in fine condition.
