Kurt Schiegl was conscripted into the German Wehrmacht Army in 1943, during World War II, but deserted to the Belgian underground.

Schiegl emigrated to Toronto,Canada where he died in 1984 of a heart attack.

He became an actor in American and European films in the early 1960s. With his large flat nose, he often played monsters and wrestlers in low grade movies. In 1981, he played one of the Neanderthals in the movie "Quest for Fire."
