- The fight was televised live in prime time on ABC-TV, where it drew a 20.3 rating and 34 percent share.[2]
- Earnie Shavers knocked out Ken Norton in one round on the undercard.
- 5,376 fans paid $345,000 to see the fight at the Las Vegas Hilton Pavilion.
- Holmes earned $1.2 million and Ocasio got $250,000.
- Holmes dropped Ocasio four times in the seventh round. The first knockdown was from a jab. The next three knockdowns came from right hands.
