Laurent Dauthuille vs. Charley Zivic
Laurent Dauthuille 157 lbs beat Charley Zivic 160 lbs by KO at 1:15 in round 9 of 10
- Date: 1950-04-03
- Location: Duquesne Gardens, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
- Referee: Ernie Sesto
“Zivic had rallied from a near kayo in the fourth round to stage one of his typical gallant comebacks. He had more than evened the score with Dauthuille and apparently was on his way to victory when the Frenchman slugged him with a crunching right to the heart during a wild exchange in the ninth. Dauthuille was on him in a flash, driving both lefts and rights to the head. These put Zivic down, glassy-eyed, for a count of nine. Zivic got up on sea-sick underpinnings and it was only seconds later that a near-murderous right sent the Hill youngster thudding to the canvas. His head hit with such terrific force that he was semi-conscious for some 10 minutes afterwards. ”
