Laurent Dauthuille of France justified the odds favoring him tonight as he pounded out a one-sided 10-round decision over Tony Janiro, 151 1/2, of Youngstown, Ohio, in an outdoor fight. Dauthuille, holding nearly a six-pound advantage at 157 1/4, took command of the scrap at the start and held the veteran Ohioan at bay except in the 3rd round. Power-laden lefts and a steady stream of right-hand punches to the body bewildered Janiro from the start. In the 3rd session, however, Janiro kept the colorful Frenchman at a distance with a stinging right. Janiro's right eye started to close in the 2nd from Dauthuille's jabs and by the 7th it was almost useless. Through the closing rounds, Dauthuille had things almost all his own way but he couldn't produce the punch to floor the sturdy Janiro." -Associated Press
