Murray, Norwalk, Conn., tonight after eight rounds of listless fighting and awarded the decision to Jersey Joe Walcott of Camden, NJ, in the 10 round feature event at the Coliseum. Walcott forced the fight throughout, while Leonard repeatedly warned Murray to mix it. The crowd booed the main event from the 5th round on, and in the 8th, heavily wrapped newspapers began falling in the ring." -Associated Press
