Len Harvey 178 lbs beat Larry Gains 213 lbs by PTS in round 15 of 15

  • Date: 1934-02-08
  • Location: Royal Albert Hall, Kensington, London, United Kingdom
  • Referee: Jim Kendrick

"Len Harvey, 178, England's overgrown middleweight sensation, conceded old Larry Gains, 215 1/2, of Toronto a 37 pound pull in weight last night and outpointed the veteran from Canada over the 15 round route to win the British Empire heavyweight championship. Spurred on by the crowd of 10,000, Harvey got up from the floor in the 2nd round, took two rounds to recover from a right hook to the body that had spilled him and carried the fight over the test of the distance to the old champion. Once the master boxer, Gains slowly faded after a smashing start." -Canadian Press
