Birth Name: Leonard Grace
Hometown: Louisville, Kentucky, USA
Died: 1941-11-03 (Age:21)
Pro Boxer: Record
Grace had only been a pro for a few months, at the time of his final fatal bout. Grace built up an early lead, before Parker found range for his right hand. Grace was down in the 4th round for a nine-count on a right hand to the body. Grace rose groggily and finished out the round. In the 5th round, a blow around the shoulder or heart put him down again for the count. Parker's head reportedly hit the canvas when he was counted out. Grace was briefly brought out of unconsciousness in his dressing room, before dying a half hour after the bout. While it was initially thought that Grace may have succumbed to a heart issue, an autopsy the following day determined that he died from a brain hemorrhage.
Grace was 21 at the time of his death, and had been orphaned at the age of 10, and had been adopted by John Gordon.
