"Leotis Martin, 191 1/2, of Philadelphia, scored his 16th straight victory Monday night, knocking out Lee Carr, 203, of New York, in 2:27 of the 2nd round of their scheduled 10-round bout at The Arena. Carr was down for a nine-count before the bell sounded in the 1st round after Martin, the WBA's 9th ranked heavyweight, floored him with a left hook to the chin. Both fighters had traded body blows in the opening two minutes. Martin came out for the 2nd round pressing an attack to the body and head and then measured Carr with a straight right to Carr's jaw which ended the fight." -United Press International
