"58-year-old loses pro bout in Florida," Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Jan 24, 1999:
"George Foreman and Larry Holmes are kids compared to Levi Forte, who fought a four-round professional bout Friday night in Hialeah, Fla., at the age of 58.
"Forte, who had not fought since 1978, lost a decision to Isaac Poole, 38. Neither fighter was especially active in the ring, with referee Bill Connors repeatedly warning them to pick up the pace or risk point deductions.
"Forte, whose first fight was in 1961, said, 'For someone my age to go four rounds should give me a chance to fight again.' Mike Scionti, executive director of the Florida Athletic Commission, said Forte's license to fight was approved in November. 'I recommended that he didn't fight,' said Scionti, who didn't have a vote."
