• Best remembered as a sparring partner for World Heavyweight Champions Jack Sharkey and Joe Louis.
• Louis knocked out Flowers numerous times in sparring matches.
• In September, 1935, Flowers was one of the sparring partners helping to train Joe Louis for his fight with Max Baer. At Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, Louis knocked Flowers cold in a sparring match in front of a large crowd of fans.
