Lew Jenkins vs. Lou Ambers (2nd meeting)
Lou Ambers 140 lbs lost to Lew Jenkins 134 lbs by TKO at 2:26 in round 7 of 10
- Date: 1941-02-28
- Location: Madison Square Garden, New York, New York, USA
- Referee: Arthur Donovan
"Lightweight champion Lew Jenkins battered Lou Ambers into retirement tonight when he scored a repeat TKO victory over the former champion in the 7th round before 16,000 fans at MSG. Ambers took a terrific beating in the 2nd round, after being stunned by a thunderous right to the chin, but he didn't go down then. Instead he rallied so magnificently that some of the boxing writers had him ahead in rounds when the knockout came in the 7th. The KO came when Jenkins, slinking backward, suddenly lashed out with his right and drove Lou to the floor for the count of one. Ambers rose and backpedaled into the ropes where Jenkins caught him on the chin with a left hook, then a right which floored him for eight. He rose again, but was belted down with a series of hooks to the head. Referee Arthur Donovan stepped in, waved Jenkins away at 2:26 of the round and assisted Ambers to his corner." -United Press
