- Cardle came out in the opening with a flurry of accurate and hurtful punches landing flush on the chin of Ritson.
- After a stern telling-off from his corner and realising he was in another firefight, much like his previous defence against Joe Murray, Ritson duly obliged and came into his own in the second round, planting his feet and hammering home at will. Ritson soon trapped Cardle onto the ropes and a big right sent him down, with the ropes keeping him up. Letting his hands go, Ritson relentlessly rocked Cardle's head from side to side before Cardle's corner and the referee jointly called a halt to the contest.
