The fans stood and cheered both Gutierrez and his game opponent after 10 gruelling rounds. Gutierrez may have the fastest left in the west, and he used it to good advantage in opening a cut near Brown's left eye. But his rapier thrusts to Brown's body were the most impressive. The decision was unanimous for the quick-hitting Gutierrez, but Brown earned just as much applause for his gutty performance. Brown outweighed Gutierrez, 120 to 115." -The San Antonio Light
