Lothar Abend (58,4 kg) fought in his hometown Kiel, a second meeting with the Belgian veteran Pierre Tirlo (62 kg),known to many boxing crowds in Europe as "Pierre with the moustache". Pierre was not up to his standard as a honest fighter who often lost but gave a good fight. This time he acted as a ring- clown, running backwards when Abend chased him, but drew no laughter for his exaggerated movements. He partly sabotaged the fight with frequent holdning and wrestling.
Trilo was now 5-20-2. He fought until 1972, leaving behind a record of 15-38-5, facing almost everbody in his divison and generation.
