The Los Angeles Times gave Rosenbloom seven out of the ten rounds, as he cut Nova over both eyes. The Times reported that "He (Rosenbloom) made the champion look so foolish, so clumsy that the youngster, tripping and falling over his own feet, not only had to beat Rosenbloom, but himself as well." Nova did win the first two rounds, punctuated by a hard left to the jaw that he landed on Rosenbloom in the 1st round.
