- Bute entered as the No.3 super middleweight in the world according to The Ring Magazine. Mendy, a 12/1 betting underdog [2], was unranked by the same publication. [3]
- Bute's second professional bout in his native Romania.
- For Referee Marlon Wright, it was his eighth time officiating a Bute bout and his fourth Bute World Title Fight.
- A left hand on the button at 2:47 of Round 4 sent Mendy crashing face first to the mat. He got to his knees, but was unable to beat the referee's count.
