- Coming into this fight, Bute was ranked No.2 at super middleweight by The Ring magazine, while Andrade was ranked No.5 in the same category.
- Rematch of October 2008 fight that had ended in some controversy (see Lucian Bute vs. Librado Andrade (1st meeting)).
- The first three rounds saw Andrade be the aggressor and Bute play the role of counter-puncher, as had been the case in the first fight. HBO's unofficial scorecard had Bute up 30-27 after the 3rd round.
- In round 4, Bute slips an overhand right from Andrade and lands a heavy left hand to the jaw of his opponent, sending him heavily to the canvas.
- Andrade beats the count and resumes the fight, but is soon caught by a left hook to the body that sends him down for the count at 2:57 of round 4.
- As a result of this victory, Bute ascends to No.1 in The Ring super middleweight rankings (title is vacant).
