  • Joppy down once in round 9, and twice more in round 10 before the referee steps in to waive the fight over.
  • Bute completely dominated the fight, and could probably have ended it sooner had he pressed the action in the middle rounds.
  • Before the fight, Joppy had promised an upset, stating that Canadians knew much about hockey, but very little about boxing and that he would be putting forth a clinic.
  • Joppy announced his retirement after the fight.
