"Luis Rodriguez used his experience to win a unanimous decision over Bennie Briscoe, Philadelphia, in a 10 round match Friday night. Rodriguez overcame the handicap of a cut around the left eye in the 3rd round and made Briscoe fight his fight. It was a slow fight most of the way but wound up with a wild flurry of action when Rodriguez, abandoning his cautious hit-and-hold style, battled head and head with Briscoe. The small crowd booed Briscoe for his wrestling tactics. Three times he threw Rodriguez to the floor and once got him in an arm lock that made Rodriguez drop to his knees. Referee Arthur Mercante penalized Briscoe for his wrestling tactics." -Associated Press
