"Luis Rodriguez outboxed a game Jose Gonzalez Tuesday night and stopped him in the 7th round of their scheduled 10 rounder before a crowd of 3,101 at the Auditorium. Rodriguez floored the 21 year old Gonzalez in the 1st round. A left hook to the body and a right cross put Gonzalez down for the first time in his career. A cut was opened on the bridge of Gonzalez' nose in the 1st round and Rodriguez opened a cut over one of Jose's eyes in the 4th and the other in the 6th. Once Gonzalez started bleeding, Luis hit him continuously and as the 6th round ended, Gonzalez took everything from Rodriguez without returning a blow. The fight stopped there." -Associated Press
