"Mando Ramos, unbeaten Long Beach teen-age whiz, scored his 17th straight victory Thursday night at the Olympic Auditorium when he knocked out Len Kesey, Eugene, Oregon, in 1:31 of the 5th round. Ramos dominated the first three rounds. As the bell ended for round three, Kesey was draped against the ropes taking a barrage of blows. Only the bell saved him from being knocked out. By the 5th, Kesey's face, trunks and chest were a mass of blood from a steady stream from his nose. Ramos pounded him unmercifully until Dr. Jack Useem asked the referee to call a halt because Kesey's nose appeared to be broken." -United Press International
