Notes
"George Chuvalo, the 31 year old Canadian champ, stopped Manuel Ramos, the Mexican titleholder, in 1:31 of the 5th round Thursday night at MSG. It was a bloody battle while it lasted. Chuvalo had a cut on the side of his nose as early as the 2nd round. Ramos had to undergo repairs for a cut near his left eye after the 3rd. A right hand to the head early in the 5th round dropped Ramos on the seat of his pants. He got up at three but referee Zach Clayton gave him the required eight count. Sensing a chance to end it quickly, Chuvalo stormed at the Mexican and threw punches from all angles. Ramos, pinned against the ropes and taking heavy punishment, threw up his hands appealing to the referee that he had enough." -Associated Press
