Matthew Hipps is an American based Amateur boxer fighting out of Chicago,Illinois. Matthew Hipps has been Boxing Since August 22nd, 2011. Matthew Hipps began training in Livingston, Texas competing with friends and family training to become a well skilled boxer in Chicago, Illinois. Hipps trains and works with Marcus Greene's boxing team in downtown Chicago, while Marcus manages his fights. After Hipps first 10 fights, he returned to Texas, as there he took a break from competing and began training with "Beyond Fight Team," which consists of his MMA fighting friends.
To this day Matthew Hipps fights out of Chicago, Illinois and prepares for fights in Evanston, Illinois as well as Texas. Hipps plans to attend Olympic trials,a long with training for golden gloves, with the training acceptance he received in 2012, to train with a private camp in St. Louis.
Early Life
Hipps was born in Cleveland, Texas on April 21, 1997. Matthew was raised in Livingston,Texas by his mother Jennifer Rader and his father Shannon Hipps. Matthew moved to New Caney, Texas when he was 10, to live with his grandparents, mother, and sister named Madison Hipps. In 2009, Matthew's mother Jennifer passed away, leaving Matthew to move to Chicago, Illinois with his sister to live with their father.
Events
In 2012, Matthew Hipps attended Chicago's "Speed Rounds" winning his first District fight, against Devin Goldberg. Following up to his headline fight in Austin, Texas against Mark Duncan with a great win. Matthew involves himself with many training and sponsorship events for fellow fighters. [1]
Influences
As a young fighter, Matthew Hipps greatly looks up to Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali. Matthew Hipps Studies the art of the orthodox shuffle and learns it for his benefit in his fights. "If it wasn't for Ali, I wouldn't be who I am today." Watching old fights of Muhammad Matthew takes what he has learned and gives it his all in every fight. Hipps believes boxers have to bring heart into the game, its part of the tradition.
To This Day
Matthew Continues to box out of Chicago, Illinois. He trains daily to become a better fighter with his training partner Kaleb Roy, while Kaleb teaches Matt Mixed Martial Arts. Hipps Continues to compete every few months, when Marcus books him fights. Hipps plans to begin entering the professional league in the future, a long with bringing his fight team with him.
