Terry Edwards 134 lbs lost to Maurice Cullen 134 lbs by TKO in round 5 of 15

  • Date: 1966-06-06
  • Location: New St James Hall, Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom
  • Referee: Wally Thom

"Maurice Cullen, 134, British lightweight champion, retained his title at Newcastle with a 5th-round victory over Terry Edwards, 134, of Birmingham. Referee Wally Thom intervened at 2:10 of the round to save Edwards from further punishment. Cullen used his usual 'Trombone' left in the early rounds to make an opening for a perfect right that sent Edwards crashing to the canvas for the count of eight. From then on it was a dashing Cullen who had Edwards at his mercy against the ropes with no defense. Referee Thom, seeing Edwards' plight, jumped between the men and called a halt." -Ring Magazine, September 1966 issue

  • With this win Cullen won his Lonsdale Belt outright.
