Maurice Holtzer 129 lbs beat Georges Baumgartner 130 lbs by KO in round 2 of 10

  • Date: 1937-06-14
  • Location: Cirque Pourtier, Nancy, Meurthe-et-Moselle, France
  • Referee: Georges Lips

Holtzer was initially declared the winner by knockout. According to one of the two judges, however, the finishing blow had been low, while the other judge declared it was a legal blow. Referee Lips declared he had not been able to see it clearly. Following a protest by Baumgartner, the French Boxing Federation (FFB) overturned the verdict on July 3 and disqualified Holtzer for hitting low. Following another protest, this time by the referee, the FFB ruled it would uphold the original verdict.
