Japanese flyweight Okada won the first two rounds, Arroyo the last two rounds, in a bout fought aggressively on the inside mostly in center ring. Okada scored a flash knockdown near the end of round two with an overhand right which made it a 10-8 round, and won Okada the fight in an upset. Without the knockdown, the bout would have been a majority draw as two cards went 38-37.
