Melton Bowen worked as a Miami-Dade County Schools' security guard. He also competed in the UFC losing a Mixed Martial Arts match to former UFC World Heavyweight Champion Steve Jennings.

On June 1, 2010, Bowen was interviewed on WSVN Channel 7 News in Miami, Florida regarding the international news story, "Miami Zombie." In the interview, a badly slurred speeched Bowen told how he had a street fight with the "Miami Zombie" killer Rudy Eugene in 2007. Bowen said that Eugene threatened to beat him up at a local Flea Market in a dispute over music. Bowen said he knocked Eugene out with one punch. The police were called, but no one was jailed.
