- Climbed off the canvas five times to knock out world-rated Boone Kirkman in a stunning upset. The victory earned Jones the distinction as The Ring magazine's "Fighter of The Month."
- In 1969, Jones scored an upset 2nd round knockout over undefeated prospect Tony (Kid) Longoria and, in the process, ended Longoria's promising career.
