Notes

  • Fight was on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Juan Manuel Marquez
  • Harold Lederman scored the fight 117-111 for Katsidis
  • Escobedo, while backed up, did appear to win rounds 4 and 10-12, including breaking Katsidis jaw in the 12th, when he emptied his guns.
  • Katsidis lived up to his reputation as the "bloody bleeder" and was already bleeding from a cut above the left eye early in round one and both of his eyes were eventually black and blue. It could be argued that the blood may have affected judge Mike Fitzgerald's scoring of the fight in what seemed to be a competitive, but clear win for Katsidis.
  • Escobedo bleeding from a cut on the corner of the right eye in round 12.
  • An exciting, brutal war won by Katsidis coming forward with pressure the whole bout, throwing combinations and power shots.
